Editorial Policy

Money content is easy to get wrong and easy to slant. This page explains how we work, so you can judge whether to trust what you read here.

Our standard

Every article should be useful to a Filipino reader on the day they read it. That means local rules, local prices, and local situations — not translated advice built on another country's tax code or credit system.

We aim to be:

  • Clear before clever. If a sentence needs a finance degree, it gets rewritten.
  • Specific. Real numbers, real merchants, real deductions.
  • Honest about uncertainty. Where something depends on your situation, we say so instead of implying a universal answer.

How we research

Factual claims come from primary sources wherever possible: the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, the Insurance Commission, and the published terms of banks and insurers. Academic and industry research is cited with the study name and year so you can check it yourself.

Articles that cite research include a Sources or References section at the end. If a claim has no source, treat it as the author's opinion or experience — and we try to label it that way in the text.

Personal experience

Many Richable articles are written in the first person and describe real financial decisions, including bad ones. These are accounts, not recommendations. Where an article draws on the author's own bank or card statements, figures are used to illustrate patterns, and account identifiers are never published.

What we do not do

  • No paid coverage. We do not accept payment to feature, review, or praise a bank, card, insurer, or investment product.
  • No commissions. We do not earn referral fees on products we mention.
  • No fear-selling. We will not manufacture urgency to push a product, particularly with insurance.
  • No guaranteed returns. Any article implying certain profit is an article we got wrong.

If this ever changes — for example if we introduce advertising or affiliate links — the relationship will be disclosed clearly on the page where it appears, not buried here.

Educational content, not advice

Richable is not a licensed financial advisor, broker, or insurance agent. Nothing we publish is personalized financial, investment, insurance, tax, or legal advice. Our calculators produce estimates using simplified assumptions and may not match your payroll, your bank, or your policy. Before a major decision, consult a qualified professional who can review your full situation.

AI use

We use AI in two ways, and we think you should know both. Inside the Money Tools, AI reads uploaded statements to extract and categorize transactions — output you can edit, because it is not always right. In publishing, AI may assist with drafting or editing, but every article is reviewed by a human before it goes live, and the facts and personal experiences are ours.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. Material corrections — a wrong figure, an outdated rule, a claim that does not hold — are updated in the article with a note about what changed. We do not quietly delete mistakes.

Spotted an error? Email hello@richable.co with the article and what looks wrong. Corrections from readers are welcome and taken seriously.

Your data

How we handle the information you give us — including statements you upload — is covered in our privacy policy. The short version: uploaded files are processed in memory and never stored, and saved transactions belong to you and can be deleted at any time.
